The young students at Music on Magnolia put their lessons into practice playing the Cove, Paper Tiger, Lonesome Rose.

By noon on Sunday, the Cove was packed with fans eager to catch their favorite not-yet-famous musicians live. One youngster held a homemade sign declaring her “ Boba Tea ’s No. 1 Fan .” And those who were there for the band Cross Eyed sported black T-shirts bearing the group’s name. Blue Tokyo Connection kicked things off, ripping through Brand New Sin ’s “Crank it Up” and Red Hot Chili Peppers ’ “Can’t Stop.

“I wouldn’t really even allow myself to think about it,” he said. “And then I found this place during COVID. The rent was affordable, and that was the one thing that made it possible, because I was able to hire people. It really is a dream come true.' He brought 75 students with him. They included Brenda Mueller’s daughter Alexus, who already had been performing for a few years. “We started in the summer, and our first gig was a December gig,” Mueller said.
