Sovia Lauriano , whose decades-long devotion to the San Antonio Spurs earned her the title “Spurs Lady,” died on Saturday, according to city officials and social media posts. Lauriano was known in the community for her energetic spirit and unwavering loyalty to the Spurs. She was a season-ticket holder for over 25 years and could often be found at games and various Spurs events wearing eclectic, handmade outfits honoring the five-time NBA champions.
Uncensored, a fan page with over 160,000 followers, posted a video of Lauriano congratulating Spurs coach Gregg Popovich before his induction into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. “We drove 2,000 miles for four days to get here from San Antonio,” says Lauriano, wearing a tee shirt with the coach’s face and a hat with a basketball hoop attached. “I love you so much Pop,” she says before hugging him.
