by SBG Staff Reports Alejandro Richard Velasquez Gomez was sentenced to five years in prison in federal court for making a verified threat targeting a Florida event for young political activists.
Velasquez was prepared with a ticket to the event and a booked flight from Austin to Tampa, Florida, where the conference was set to occur from July 22 through July 24, 2022. He pled guilty to the charge of interstate threatening communication in federal court on May 16, 2023.
