SAN ANTONIO — Willie Rector said she has a nice place where she doesn’t have to worry about a negligent landlord. Her fridge was still in the packaging. Things were different nine months ago when she lived at complex called Seven Oaks, a place that made headlines for its extremely poor living conditions.
It was that organizing done by the Seven Oaks residents and TOP that led to a policy that holds property owners accountable through the new proactive apartment inspections program. It was unanimously passed by the San Antonio City Council. It’s a program that Michael Shannon, director of San Antonio's Development Services Department, says will make apartment owners be more proactive about maintenance requests.
