The 30 students who completed the Eastside Youth Content Creators Program watched their films on the big screen for the first time Thursday.
Though still a year shy of high school, Benavier Thrash knows exactly what he wants in life. In the short-term, a Disney Channel show. Then a dazzling acting career. Benavier , 13, knows it'll take hard work. He's already started. On Thursday night, he appeared onstage in a stylish suit and bow tie at the historic Carver Community Cultural Center , one of 30 middle and high school students screening short films and commercials they wrote, shot and edited.
“When we developed this program, it was with the purpose of celebrating you and connecting you with the resources and training that would help elevate the talent that you already have, all of that innate talent that you already possess.” The participants spent four days a week learning screenwriting, acting, cinematography, directing, marketing and editing. The group had one week to shoot five films and two commercials while also creating trailers, posters and marketing materials for the work.
