This year marks a significant milestone for the program as the campus announces its pioneering initiative: becoming the first college to house a fully-functioning mortuary. SAN ANTONIO - Since its establishment in 1961, the Mortuary Science Program at San Antonio College has provided students with valuable hands-on experience in the field of mortuary services.

"We were so pumped," remarked Jonnica Fuller, a former student of the Mortuary Science Program, expressing her excitement about the announcement. Led by licensed funeral director and embalmer Jennifer Floyd, the operation allows students to shadow her throughout the day, gaining insights into the comprehensive services offered by the facility.

The newly established mortuary includes essential facilities such as a crematorium, chapel, shop, and conference room, making it fully operational and open to the public."It's groundbreaking, it's innovative, and it's definitely a legacy and a jewel for the students to be a part of," she said, underscoring her commitment to educating future professionals.
