The San Antonio City Council reviewed a comprehensive plan outlining the city's federal legislative priorities for the 119th Congress. The program, built on seven pillars, aims to address key community needs through partnerships and federal funding.

San Antonio's city council convened on Wednesday to delve into the city's federal legislative program for the 119th Congress session. This program, designed to champion and support the San Antonio community, rests upon seven key pillars: Housing, Military Protection, Public Safety & Homeland Security, Infrastructure, Resiliency & Transportation, Workforce, Public Health & Human Services, and Advancement of Community Interests.

Each pillar represents a spectrum of groups across the city, many of which receive grant funding to directly serve the everyday needs of San Antonians. Government Affairs Director Sally Basurto emphasized the collaborative nature of this initiative, stating, 'It is important to understand that this is a program that includes various priorities we've identified, that we will look forward to finding alignment through partnerships and federal funding with the current administration.' Multiple city departments pooled their expertise to determine the best course for advocacy efforts, describing the program in the agenda item memo as 'strategic, and impactful,' aimed at propelling a 'strong and thriving city.'Mayor Ron Nirenberg, reflecting on the recent actions of the new administration, remarked, 'We've seen a lot of action in the first couple of weeks of this administration. What I hope that the approach we would take is.. if these actions on their face are unconstitutional, and are likely to be litigated, we should continue to do what we do: which is to deliver the services and programs that our community expects.' This proactive stance underscores the council's commitment to ensuring the well-being of San Antonio's residents regardless of the evolving political landscape
