Linda Ford and Michael Howard, who met doing theater in San Antonio, finally got together decades later.

When Michael Howard first fell for fellow actor Linda Ford in the early 70s, he fell hard. Looking at a photo of them in a 1971 production of 'Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf ?' in which they played newlyweds, he says he can see in his younger self’s eyes how smitten he was with the petite woman in his arms. “I was madly in love with her, of course,” said Howard, 77. “It was sickening. That’s the way it gets you sometimes.” They went out a few times.

First Rep was a staging ground for actors' careers In addition to playing Nick and Honey in 'Virginia Woolf,' they played siblings Tom and Laura in 'The Glass Menagerie.' They appeared in a few other things together, too. After a few years, they both left San Antonio and lost touch. She moved around a bit, living in New York and New Orleans, among other cities.

Overtime Theater's new space gives the company room to grow Ford, who had had a tough time breaking back into the San Antonio theater scene when she returned to the city, saw the same thing happen to Howard. Both started acting when they were children and weren’t remotely ready to give it up. So they started digging into plays on their own.
