A recent study reveals that San Antonio residents are among the most likely to ghost others, with over half admitting to disappearing without a trace. Ghosting, once confined to the dating world, has seeped into friendships and even professional settings, leaving many feeling hurt and confused. This article explores the prevalence of ghosting in San Antonio, its impact on relationships, and the reasons behind this increasingly common social phenomenon.
San Antonio residents are known for their disappearing acts, with over half admitting to ghosting someone. Ghosting isn't just limited to dating anymore, it's affecting friendships and even workplaces. On average, San Antonians ghost around 3.2 people a year and have been ghosted 1.9 times themselves, making the city the ninth-worst in the country for this trend.
While Austin and Houston also rank high on the ghosting list, San Antonio stands out with 75% of singles reporting being ghosted on dating apps. The workplace isn't safe either, with 61% of job seekers experiencing ghosting from potential employers and 35% admitting to ghosting employers themselves. Common reasons for ghosting include avoiding conflict, recognizing red flags, and escaping toxic situations. Adding insult to injury, nearly 1 in 5 people have been ghosted right before or on Valentine's Day. Only a quarter of those ghosted in San Antonio manage to reconcile with the person who disappeared. Interestingly, 27% of people wait about a month before officially labeling an experience as ghosting.
