Though calling it a mere projector is really doing it a disservice

The Freestyle uses a ‘Pico’ projector-style optical system that combines LED lighting with full HD DLP optics, and it’s apparently bright enough to deliver pictures up to 100 inches across - or punch through the sort of ambient light levels typically found in the sort of every-day living spaces it’s designed to work in. In fact, the Freestyle even supports high dynamic range streaming in the HDR10 or HLG formats.

The Freestyle does carry an HDMI port, though, for those occasions where you might want to run a Blu-ray player or games console into it. It’s a micro HDMI port, so you’ll likely need to sort yourself out with an adaptor, but providing a physical connection still seems like a sensible move. While this sound system is most important for the way it enables the Freestyle to potentially function as a smart speaker as well as a projector, it should also come in handy, of course, when it comes to partnering the projector’s big-screen pictures with a decently cinematic sound on movie nights.Samsung’s out of the box thinking with The Freestyle has even led to it shipping with a translucent cap that can generate mood lighting effects if attached while the projector is switched on.
