Rumours say the new Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 will have a larger second screen. But will that impact battery life? New features include app continuity.
Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Z Flip 5 is likely to get a huge cover display upgrade, including a larger panel and some optimised apps that would make outer screen more functional., which is a big upgrade on the 1.9-inch notification bar on the current model. That new, larger, display will also have apps optimised for the small screen, including; YouTube, Google Messages and Google Maps—alongside some of Samsung’s own apps.
The fact that Samsung has waited for the firth iteration of the Flip series to introduce a much more functional screen is interesting. There are obvious battery life concerns when adding a second display to a small device and I am fascinated to know how Samsung will offset the additional power drain. A new, more efficient chipset could be an answer, or a larger battery in a slightly bigger device. The Razr Plus 2023 is taller than the Razr 2022 and comes with a bigger battery , for example.
