Samsung's Fan Edition ecosystem keeps growing, with the Galaxy S23 FE, Galaxy Tab S9 FE, and Galaxy Buds FE being unveiled.
Samsung has announced the launch of three new Fan Edition products, as it continues to grow its FE ecosystem. All three devices are less expensive than their non-FE counterparts, but local pricing and availability have not been confirmed yet.
Fan Edition is the designation that Samsung uses for the more affordable versions of its flagship products. It is an ecosystem of products that were announced a couple of years ago, and now three new devices have been added to the mix.At the time of writing it remains to be seen if those three devices will be launching in South Africa, but the Galaxy S21 FE made its way to our shores, so we’re expecting the same here.
As for how much they will cost remains to be seen, but the Fan Edition devices are normally more affordable than their flagship brethren. Here, Samsung has advised that the S23 FE will retail from $599 , the Tab S9 FE from $449 , and the Buds FE from $99 ., it features a larger 6.4″ display and 4 500mAh battery, and is on par in terms of RAM with 8GB on offer.
Where the Fan Edition falls ever so slightly short is the telephoto lens on the rear, as well as a generation behind in terms of Qualcomm silicon found internally. The onboard storage also maxes out at 256GB, but 5G is supported on the phone. We called the Galaxy S23 “the standard” for Android flagship phones when we reviewed it earlier this year, and if the Fan Edition can come in at a reasonable price point, it may indeed have a place within Samsung’s wide smartphone lineup.50MP wide-angle, 12MP ultra wide-angle, 10MP telephotoHypertext is one of South Africa’s leading technology news and reviews sites, catering for consumers, small and medium businesses and the technology channel.
