Samsung has announced the Galaxy SmartTag2, the successor to the original SmartTag from 2021. It gets a whole new design while retaining certain features from
The Galaxy SmartTag2 uses Bluetooth 5.3 with a range of up to 120 metres as well as support for ultra-wideband when using select Galaxy smartphones. The Compass View that guides users to the location of the tag has been improved with arrows that point to the direction of it as well as showing the distance.
There is also a new Lost Mode that lets you leave a message and contact info so that anyone who finds it can view the message using any phone or device that supports NFC, although this can be disabled. For pets, there is a pet walking mode that logs walks when you put the tag on a collar and it will even alert you when the tagged collar moves too far from your home's SmartThings Station, provided you have one.
Incredibly, the battery life has been increased by 50% to 500 days using the replaceable CR2032 battery. Going even further, you can extend the battery life to a staggering 700 days using Power Saving Mode, just a month short of two years. The Galaxy SmartTag2 will be launching globally on 11 October. While the company has not yet announced the pricing and availability, we can infer that it will be coming to Malaysia soon as the device is already listed on Samsung's Malaysian website.
