Freeman didn’t even draw up the game-winning touchdown as it happened, admitting he wanted Estime to go down earlier, run more clock and then let kickerhit the game-winner. But Notre Dame’s lead back would not be denied, starting the winning run left before cutting back right and exploding toward the goal line. A first half of nine carries for 20 yards ended with Estime bowling his way into headlines.
