He asked the new Prime Minister if she accepts his view ahead of her fracking announcement
Sammy Wilson has again voiced his support for fracking, asking the new Prime Minister if she accepts “it is absolute madness to turn our back” on “150 years worth of gas under the ground”.
Liz Truss went on to announce an end to the fracking ban in England, alongside North Sea oil and gas production, to accelerate the UK’s domestic energy supply. The Prime Minister answered: “I do agree and I am coming to the point about shale gas in a minute, but I can assure him that this policy will apply in Northern Ireland and those benefits will be given to the people of Northern Ireland, as part of the United Kingdom.”
