The Dutchman has encountered a difficult opening few months since his big money summer move from Atalanta.
The negativity coursing down on Rangers ’ summer signings in the final throes of Michael Beale ’s reign could have sapped the energy from even the hardest of competitors.
Where the atmosphere against Aberdeen on September 30 was toxic the punters were at their electrifying best to help their side over the line against Sparta Prague on Thursday. It’s a synergy that works both ways. And, according to Lammers, that positivity is now driving Clement’s side in their charge for success.
“Directly after the Sparta goal, I could feel that they felt as well that we needed their support. If they feel our energy and see we are going in the right direction with the team then they are behind us. Lammers, used out wide by Beale after his switch from Serie A, has started to find his feet after being moved inside to a number 10 position by Clement after a sitdown with the new boss.
He said: “I think I can do both. I have played a lot as a striker in my career, but also as a No 10. Right now, this is going really well. It is the whole team coming together well. We are heading in a good direction. But for me I am really happy in the No 10 position. Producing on big Euro nights is one thing. But Lammers and co will be brought back down to earth with a bump if they don’t get their head on the bread and butter of a Sunday lunchtime kick off at Livingston’s Tony Macaroni.
