The Bearkats overcame a three-score deficit to the Bobcats and won with a field goal with six seconds left at NRG Stadium in Houston.

HOUSTON — Texas State squandered a three-score lead to Sam Houston State , and the Bearkats kicked a game-winning field goal with six seconds left to stun the Bobcats 40-39 on Saturday at NRG Stadium. Texas State was up 22-0 after the first quarter and then 39-21 in the third quarter, but 11 penalties, two failed fourth down conversions, a muffed punt and a missed chip shot field goal by the Bobcats kept Sam Houston State alive.

The Bearkats responded with two consecutive scoring runs by running back Jay Ducker, the first on a 1-yarder to complete a 13-play drive and the second on a 14-yard breakaway. Texas State responded on its next drive after a Lincoln Pare 7-yard score made it 29-14 with 3:19 left in the first half. Following a three-and-out by the Bearkats, the Bobcats were set to get the ball back with 2:30 left in the half before Kole Wilson muffed a punt that was recovered by Sam Houston.
