Sam Ash announced recently that the chain would be closing all of its store locations. According to the New York Times, the Sam Ash family stated that the retailer couldn't 'compete in the era of online shopping.'
“It is with a heavy heart that we announce that effective May 2nd 2024, all Sam Ash Music Store locations will begin store closing sales. This unfortunate news also presents a fantastic opportunity for great deals across our premium selection of musical instruments & pro sound equipment. We will also be offering specials onduring this time. Thank you for allowing us to serve musicians like you for 100 years,” wrote the Sam Ash team on the chain’s website.
Sam Ash has a deep New York City history, with the first retail store opening for business in Brooklyn in 1924. In March, it was announced that“For the last 100 years, Sam Ash Music has successfully adapted to meet the challenge of changing business conditions. As we look towards the next 100 years, the company must continue to adapt to ensure its continued success,” Sam Ash previously told amNewYork Metro in a statement.
As mentioned online, the store will be holding closing sales to move out inventory.
