Barnard, which is the undergraduate women's college of Columbia University, hosted the job and internship fair with nearly 100 companies and organizations meeting with hundreds of Barnard and Columbia students looking for work. Salt Lake City ranks near the bottom of the country for graduates trying to launch their careers, according to a newly released report. The report shows Salt Lake has weaker hiring and below-median wages and affordability. Job search statistics show that one in four American job seekers spend over a year searching for their next career move.
The report says about 40% of job seekers say they feel more pressured to get hired and are applying to a broader range of roles. The report also shared that a majority of people are open to compromising job benefits to secure a role. This includes a pay cut or leaving a preferred industry.
