Salt Lake City police officers have arrested two individuals wanted in connection to an alleged aggravated murder case out of Los Angeles.
This investigation began around 2 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 24, when SLCPD dispatch received information about a stolen vehicle from Los Angeles detected by license plate reader technology. When checking the car's last known location, officers discovered both suspects inside the stolen vehicle, parked near 450 West and 600 North. A high-risk felony traffic stop was executed, leading to the arrest of the suspects.The individuals were identified as Jasani Johnson, 21, and Wynter Smith, 20. They were booked into the Salt Lake County Jail on charges of vehicle theft and obstruction of justice related to a capital or first-degree murder case.
The Los Angeles Police Department and the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office are working to secure arrest warrants for both suspects, who are expected to be transported back to California on charges of aggravated robbery and aggravated murder.
