that the downtown Salt Lake City library will be closed "until further notice" to undergo repairs to the sewer line.Quinn McQueen, the Salt Lake City Public Library System's assistant director, said Friday that the library's facility management team noticed a small leak on Wednesday. Plumbing contractors were brought in and determined that the line needs to be replaced. It was also detected before it damaged any of the books and other materials in the building, and the building itself.McQueen added that there is currently no timetable for when the library will reopen. Any due dates and holds at the Main Library will be extended, or patrons can return any of their books or other materials toThe Main Library opened in 2003, and next month marks the 20th anniversary of its grand opening. Updates on the library's reopening are expected to be posted on its website and will be sent through social media and the library's newsletter.
