Salt Lake City Mayor Erin Mendenhall signed an emergency order Tuesday that will expand shelter space in SLC as unhoused residents continue to face the threat of snowstorms and frigid temperatures.

Move comes amid wintry weather and after state officials said the shelter system had yet to reach capacity.
