Rushdie also detailed the damage to his hand, severing tendons and nerves, which he said has yet to be repaired. Matar, a 27-year-old dual Lebanese-American citizen, has pleaded not guilty to attempted murder and assault. He reportedly told The Post after the stabbing that he targeted Rushdie because he believed the author had 'attacked Islam' in his writing.
