Sally Nugent was left overwhelmed and 'couldn't carry on with the show'
BBC Breakfast's Sally Nugent said she "couldn't carry on with the show" after she was left overwhelmed by an emotional segment. During Tuesday's instalment of the popular morning show, Sally covered a range of topics alongside co-host Jon Kay - but she was soon left unable to do her job properly, as reported by The Mirror.
The 51-year-old appeared to fight back tears after a video was shown about Guide Dog charity volunteers who help train the assistance dogs from puppies. The report highlighted how there is a shortage of volunteers, leading to the charity launching a big recruitment drive to try and boost numbers. The demand for guide dogs is high and at the moment, blind people are facing waits of up to two years to receive an assistance dog. After the footage played, an emotional Sally said "wow" as she gushed over the dogs, before Jon noticed and asked: "Are you alright?"Sally replied: "No! I don't think I can carry on. What an incredible thing to do, though, to be able to work with a dog like that and then hand it on for the next stage of its job.
He then explained how they would be interviewing a guide dog trainer later in the show, and a pooch would be in the studio, too. Sally was thrilled and said: "Do you know what we really need, now? Some beautiful pictures of guide dogs." Jon asked: "Can we handle it?" and she replied: "Yeah, I definitely can. Come on everybody, let's have a look at this. This is what we need on a Tuesday morning."
