GILROY – A 21-year-old Salinas man was killed in a solo-vehicle collision over the weekend on Highway 101 near Gilroy, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash was reported at 11:25 p.m. Saturday just north of State Route 25, the CHP said in a statement. The man was driving northbound when he veered to the left off the roadway and lost control of his 2004 Honda Accord, according to the CHP. He then traveled across all northbound lanes of the highway and hit a tree on the right-hand shoulder.As of Wednesday, it remained unclear if drugs or alcohol played a role in the collision.
