Gareth Southgate made three changes from their win over Italy on Thursday, as James Maddison got his first Start in an England jersey while Ben Chilwell and Jordan Henderson replaced Luke Shaw and Kalvin Philips.
The game's first meaningful chance arrived in the 29th minute when Maddison's free-kick found Harry Kane, who steered his effort over the crossbar. Saka then got his name on the score-sheet two minutes later as the Arsenal man rolled one challenge before curling the ball into the top corner from around 20 yards out.
England, however, went close to adding a third goal in the 73rd minute when Maddison did well to slip Jude Bellingham in down the left, but the latter's cross was cleared by Matvyenko with Saka lurking in the six yard area.
