New Orleans Saints quarterback Derek Carr is expected to miss multiple games with an oblique injury according to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo and Ian Rapoport. Carr was injured in the fourth quarter of the Saints’ 26-13 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday night. He took a hit on a fourth-down pass that fell incomplete and did not return for the team’s final offensive possession. Carr has completed 70.3% of his passes for New Orleans so far this season, the second-best mark of his career.
After winning their first two games, New Orleans has lost three in a row. The offense has cooled off as well. The Saints scored 91 points in the first two weeks of the season but only 67 over the last three. “Not good,” Carr said when asked how he was feeling after the Monday loss. In Carr’s absence, New Orleans will turn to Jake Haener, who was selected by the team with a fourth-round pick in 2023.
