The Saints are preseason favorites to win their division, but they still need to add talent to their roster. Here's one way they can tackle the 2023 NFLDraft to do just that.
This past season featured significant adversity including injuries to quarterback Jameis Winston, receiver Michael Thomas, and others as well as new coaching personnel after Sean Payton’s one-year “retirement.” Still, the Saints managed to finish the year with a 7-10 record and were in play for a playoff spot until Week 17.
Additionally, there’s plenty of reason to believe he hasn’t come close to reaching his ceiling after not starting a game for Iowa’s defense in a program that prioritized upperclassmen. Finally, Van Ness began his collegiate career as an interior, B-gap defender so would give the Saints additional interior depth on the defensive line.
Brown was one of the biggest standouts from this year’s Senior Bowl as a guy that can lock down even much bigger offensive playmakers on the inside and over the middle of the field. He has great versatility to play a variety of roles in the defense and provides excellent depth for what is a strong tandem of starting safeties when healthy.
