Sainsbury’s launches £1 million programme for black-led start-up businesses by Vic Motune
KEY SUPPORT: Sainsbury's have launched a £1 million programme to support black businesses
The initiative, launched in partnership with award-winning social enterprise Foundervine and venture capital firm Mission Ventures will practical support and expert mentoring to participating black- owned businesses with the goal of helping them navigate challenges such as inadequate funding, lack of social capital and networks, or limited industry knowledge.
Silika Shellie-Manso, Director of Grocery Innovation at Sainsbury’s said: “At Sainsbury’s we’ve always been passionate about seeking out innovative or emerging brands. As an inclusive retailer, we believe that to offer great food and drink for everyone, it should be made by everyone.
