The video game is set to release worldwide on Friday. However, it comes as Kuwait still wrestles with memories of the Gulf War.
The Gulf nation of Kuwait has banned the highly anticipated video game Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, a product of Microsoft-owned Activision, due to its portrayal of the late Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein. The game, a first-person shooter that places players in various global conflict zones, including the Middle East, is set to be released globally this Friday.
'All preorders in Kuwait will be canceled and refunded to the original point of purchase,' the company said. 'We remain hopeful that local authorities will reconsider and allow players in Kuwait to enjoy this all-new experience in the Black Ops series.'Kuwait's Ministry of Information did not respond to requests for comment. However, the ban aligns with previous instances where games featuring controversial geopolitical content have been prohibited.
