In a Dallas County lawsuit filed this month, the mother accused By the Barnyard Gate in Sachse of negligence and failing to maintain a safe environment for children. The suit describes how a 19-year-old employee of the Sachse center inappropriately touched her son in early January 2023.Video footage showed the employee, Efrain Jesus Bonilla, was left alone with napping children, the lawsuit says. He sat cross-legged next to the boy and rubbed his hands together in a warming motion.
A representative of By the Barnyard Gate declined to comment Tuesday but confirmed Bonilla no longer works at the center. An investigation by the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services found that a child was abused while in care, state records show. The agency also cited the center for not reporting the incident.Bonilla was arrested in October 2023 and was released on a $25,000 bond, Dallas County court records show. He was indicted on one charge of indecency with a child. A trial is scheduled for August.
