Sacha Baron Cohen and Rosamund Pike have been tapped to lead a new Netflix comedy, Ladies First, directed by Thea Sharrock.
, who previously made 2016’s Me Before You, 2020’s The One and Only Ivan, 2023’s Wicked Little Letters, and 2024’s The Beautiful Game., Ladies First is loosely inspired by Je Ne Suis Pas Un Homme Facile, a 2018 French film that was directed by Éléonore Pourriat.
“Baron Cohen will play an unrepentant womanizing chauvinist who finds himself in a parallel world dominated by women,” Deadline’s description of Ladies First reads. “A fiery female counterpart makes things even more complicated.”The script for Ladies First is written by Katie Silberman and Natalie Krinsky. Liza Chasin produces the film for 3dot alongside Eleonore Dailly, Edouard de Lachomette, and Four By Two Films.
Baron Cohen is best known for creating and portraying characters such as Ali G, Borat Sagdiyev, Brüno Gehard, and Admiral General Haffaz Aladeen in various projects. He has starred in movies such as 2006’s Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby, 2011’s Hugo, 2012’s Les Misérables, 2016’s Alice Through the Looking Glass, and 2020’s The Trial of the Chicago 7.
Pike, meanwhile, has starred in movies such as 2005’s Pride & Prejudice, 2012’s Jack Reacher, 2013’s The World’s End, 2014’s Gone Girl, 2017’s Hostiles, 2018’s A Private War, 2020’s I Care a Lot, and 2023’s Saltburn, while she also plays Moiraine Damodred in The Wheel of Time. She’s starring in a new Guy Ritchie movie releasing in January 2025 titled In the Grey, along with 2025’s Now You See Me 3.
