Serena Sabatella scored a game-high 22 points, including four 3-pointers, as second-seeded Villa Walsh Academy defeated third-seeded Newark Academy 51-42 in the Prep B Tournament semifinal on Saturday in Morristown. The Vikings dominated the first quarter, jumping out to a commanding 23-8 lead that proved decisive. Villa Walsh maintained control through the middle quarters before the Minutemen attempted a comeback with a 14-4 advantage in the final period.Erica Reed led Newark Academy with 18 points and eight rebounds while adding 4 assists. Juliette Rebori contributed 12 points, including two 3-pointers, for the Minutemen. Villa Walsh’s balanced attack also featured Michela Vaccaro with nine points and Tessa Bowers with seven points. The Vikings’ hot shooting from beyond the arc was a key factor, as they connected on eight 3-pointers compared to Newark Academy’s three. With the victory, Villa Walsh advances to host Pennington in the Prep B championship game on Wednesday. The Vikings have now won five of their last six games.
