Under sunny skies in Paris, Aryna Sabalenka has advanced to the French Open quarterfinals by defeating Emma Navarro 6-2, 6-3. Sabalenka who hasn’t lost a set this year at the tournament expressed her joy in playing under clear conditions on Monday.

Other results included No. 12 Jasmine Paolini defeating Elina Avanesyan 4-6, 6-0, 6-1, and No. 4 Elena Rybakina eclipsing Elina Svitolina 6-4, 6-3. Paolini and Rybakina will meet in the quarters. The 11th-seeded De Minaur rallied past No. 5 Daniil Medvedev 4-6, 6-2, 6-1, 6-3 to become the first Australian to reach the quarterfinals at Roland Garros since Lleyton Hewitt 20 years ago.
He tried to explain how difficult it was playing Medvedev but couldn’t find the right French, saying “C’est trop difficile,” and still drawing loud cheers and applause.
