KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Umno wants federal civil servants in the state to stop allowing state government leaders, who are part of the Opposition, to launch their functions.

Sabah Umno chairman Datuk Bung Moktar Radin said that the heads of federal departments should realise that the Federal Government was now under Perikatan Nasional while the state was under the opposition Parti Warisan Sabah and its partners Pakatan Harapan and Upko.

“As such, inviting state officials to Federal Government programmes should not happen, ” he said in a statement on Sunday .“They must remember that state ministers or elected assemblymen from Warisan, Upko or Pakatan are opposition at the federal level, ” he added. Earlier, Sabah Umno communications chief Ghazalie Ansing voiced dissatisfaction with the Sabah Education Department for allowingto launch a school programme at SM Paul in Beaufort on Friday .

Bung hoped the state Education Department would immediately stop allowing state government representatives from the Opposition to be involved in such activities even though it was planned before the Perikatan government took over.
