Ambrose berkata jika perkara itu menjadi kenyataan, Sabah dan Sarawak akan mempunyai sekurang-kurangnya 11 Senator dari setiap dua negeri di Malaysia Timur.
“Walaupun terdapat banyak gesaan untuk 35 peratus daripada 222 kerusi di Dewan Rakyat , Sabah dan Sarawak juga perlu meneruskan perkara yang sama untuk kerusi Dewan Negara. “Setakat ini, hanya ada lima Senator dari Sabah dan lapan dari Sarawak dan itu tidak mencukupi. Seperti Ahli Parlimen, Senator juga memainkan peranan penting dalam membangkitkan isu bukan sahaja melibatkan negeri masing-masing tetapi juga melibatkan rakyat di seluruh negara,” katanya.
