KOTA KINABALU: Coffee shop and restaurant operators should not shy away from re-opening their outlets, says state Health and People's Well-being Minister Datuk Frankie Poon.

He said that many of the operators were shying away from re-opening their outlets and preferred to maintain the take-away style of operations that came into place after the movement control order was enforced on March 18.

He said this when speaking to the media after receiving medical supplies for hospitals from SME Association of Sabah president N.K.Foo on Tuesday . "They should not worry and re-open their business," he said referring to some fears by operators that if such outlets will be forced to close down if they are identified to have been contaminated by a customer with Covid-19.

"If you are irresponsible in observing the SOP then that would be a problem. Life cannot continue with closed doors. We must move forward," he said.
