The work of Professor Bavesh Kana and Dr Bhavna Gordhan has provided additional control to validate COVID-19 tests.
JOHANNESBURG - Two scientists at the South African Medical Research Council have managed to harvest live coronavirus.Teams from Wits and Stellenbosch University, as well as the University of the Western Cape worked on the project.
The scientists reconfigured their biosafety Level 3 labs from dealing with infectious bacteria to working with this new, highly infectious virus.
