The Polokwane municipality says cable theft is affecting the economy, business and the community at large.

"We’ve got quite a serious problem of cable theft that affects both businesses and our residents," the mayor said."I terms of repairs this financial year alone, we’ve spent approximately R9.8-million for replacement of cables."
