S’wak works with private hospitals on Covid-19 tests

KUCHING: The Sarawak government will collaborate with private hospitals to screen and test for Covid-19, says Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg.

The Chief Minister said discussions had been held with Borneo Medical Centre, Timberland Medical Centre, KPJ and Normah Specialist Medical Centre."Now we are extending the facilities to private hospitals in order to cope with the testing," he said on Saturday , adding that the question of cost was still being worked out.

Abang Johari also said the state government was enlisting the assistance of the military to enforce the movement control order at border posts and rural areas with immediate effect. He said the Sungai Tujuh, Tedungan, Pandaruan and Mengkalap customs, immigration and quarantine complexes on the Sarawak-Brunei border would operate between 6am and 8pm.

Meanwhile, the CIQs on the Sarawak-Kalimantan border at Tebedu, Biawak and Lubok Antu will be open from 9am to 3pm.The Chief Minister also said the state government would announce an economic aid package on Monday .
