S'wak reports one new Covid-19 infection, breaking a run of seven days without a case

KUCHING: Sarawak reported one new Covid-19 case on Monday (July 6), breaking a run of seven straight days without new infections.

Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah said the latest case was a Sarawakian student who recently returned from Britain to Bintulu.

"She was screened on July 4 and found to be positive," he said at the state disaster management committee's briefing here Monday .In view of recent imported cases in the state, Uggah said all those entering Sarawak from overseas will be quarantined for 14 days upon arrival. "Upon arriving in Sarawak, they will be brought to a hotel for quarantine and the PCR test will be taken on the second day.

Separately, he announced that spas, wellness centres, foot massage and reflexology centres in Sarawak were now allowed to open subject to standard operating procedures .
