Giants LB Isaiah Simmons made the game-winning play in Sunday's game vs. the Seahawks.
New York Giants safety Isaiah Simmons runs during an NFL football game against the Washington Commanders, Sunday, November 19, 2023 in Landover, Md. The Seahawks were a 45-yard field goal away from tying the game with 55 seconds to go, until Simmons soared over the line of scrimmage, raised his arms and blocked the kick. The ball then rolled into the arms of Bryce Ford-Wheaton, who returned it for the 60-yard touchdown that sealed the Giants’ second win of the season, 29-20.
A former first-round pick in 2020, Simmons was traded from the Cardinals to the Giants for a measly seventh-round pick last August in hopes of landing a better opportunity.
“That’s not even for sure that a guy is going to stay down,” said Simmons, who said he’s never played a snap on the field goal block unit. “He could’ve gotten coached: You need to start coming up. I did it one time on Friday. And we were like, ‘S---. Let’s go.’”
