As explained by Sean Boyd, who’s directing this multimedia show for Trinity Theatre Company in its Mission Valley space, the backstory of its creation was “a fun one to me. Matthew Murphy took a lot of abstract photographs and gave them to Ryan Scott Oliver and said ‘Write a story.’”
“We have this unifying theme of broken people in fragmented moments in time,” said Boyd, who previously music-directed “35MM” at Trinity’s former downtown space eight years ago. “When we see a picture we only get that one snapshot into somebody’s life. Not the full ‘picture’ by any means. This reminds us that maybe we make snap judgments about people.”
More than a year after its world premiere at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood and a good deal of visibility and plaudits on the film festival circuit, Jacob Vaus’ “Scuba” is being released on video and via streaming services including Amazon Prime, Google TV and Tubi.
