The airline says he is not entitled to compensation
A furious Ryanair passenger is demanding compensation after claiming he was refused boarding onto a flight. Matthew Ramsden wants £257.99 as he claims to have landed in Dublin more than three hours later than he was originally meant to.
But he says a request to be the first or last person to board the flight due to a pre-existing injury was rejected by cargo handler Swissport and he was bumped off the flight. It meant he was placed on the next available flight which was scheduled to leave Manchester Airport at 3.15pm. This flight was 'slightly delayed'.Now Ryanair is refusing to pay up. It says Matthew 'voluntarily' boarded the next flight after an 'altercation with another passenger'.
His claim states: "I was scheduled to be on the 12.35pm flight which was delayed for approximately two hours. Due to a disagreement with Swissport at boarding, I was refused boarding and had to get a supervisor to move me to the next flight at 3.15pm. This flight was slightly delayed also, meaning that I arrived into Dublin Airport over three hours delayed. Denied boarding, whether voluntary or not, makes me eligible for compensation.
