Controversial boxer Ryan Garcia has sparked chaos ahead of his world title fight with Devin Haney . A hyped-up Garcia badly missed the weight, coming in 3.2 pounds over the super lightweight mark.
Ryan Garcia chugs drink during bizarre weigh-in. Haney is unbeaten and the fight was meant to be for Haney’s super lightweight world title belt. But that is now off the table, after Garcia made a mockery of the weight, and seemingly chugged a beer while he was on the scales during a behind-the-scenes weigh-in. Fans have slammed Garcia for his antics, who later attempted to defend himself on social media. “Why would I force my self to make weight so I can be weak,” he wrote on X .
he tweeted. The super lightweight limit is seemingly a challenge for Garcia. In December last year, he fought Oscar Duarte at 143lbs even though the weight limit was originally meant to be at 140lbs. Haney has been taunting Garcia about the weight ahead of this fight. In fact, during a media conference on Thursday, Haney made a bet with Garcia of $500,000 for every pound he was overweight. Garcia’s father and trainer seemed to protest but, strangely, Garcia agreed.
