A Rutherglen comedian had an “awe-inspiring” performance to reach the final of a tournament in memory of comedy legend Stan Laurel in the venue that made him famous.

Despite not winning the final - which was judged by Still Game’s Gavin Mitchell, Rab C Nesbit’s Tony Roper and comedy icon Graham Mackie - Colette spoke about how special it was to perform where he did. “The first time I ever stood on that stage was awe-inspiring. It still has so many of the original features, it was a privilege to play there.”He was born in the north of England in 1890 but moved to Scotland as a boy when his father took a job managing the Metropole Theatre in Glasgow.
