Florida student accepted into 27 colleges including Harvard, earns nearly $4M in scholarships Graduation2022

The 18-year-old, who is also on the varsity football team, in the science club and in the IB program, said he felt over-the-moon seeing all the acceptances come, as well as thankful for everyone who had helped him in the process.

“Every campus has something special about it and so, I found something that I loved within all of them,” Walker said. “And I really tried to write about that and show that in my applications.” Rutherford High School IB and AP Coordinator Cathy Rutland said she was not surprised to hear Walker had gotten into so many prestigious colleges.

Throughout his early schooling, Walker said he had several role models and motivations, such as his fifth-grade teacher, Mrs. Hayes, and his sixth-grade teacher, Mrs. McIntyre, who also inspired his love of science. Rutland met Walker before he entered ninth grade. In the years since, she said Walker has blossomed into a one-of-a-kind student.

He does have an idea of what he wants to do once he gets to college. Walker said he plans on double majoring in electrical engineering and biomedical engineering, with his major goal to develop technology to help disabled people as well as disadvantaged communities.
