The vote comes in the wake of an unprecedented faculty strike and other controversies.
Shortly after the vote, the university issued a statement: “President Holloway will continue to work collaboratively with the university community and the University Senate as he has for the past three years.” It noted that shared governance “remains a priority.”
During debate on the measure, some senators expressed concern that a vote of no confidence would worsen relations between the Senate and the president.
