The days when Penn State could poach any high school football recruit out of neighboring New Jersey who it wanted may be over and done with.
Snyder junior football star DJ McClary at the Caven Point Athletic Complex in Jersey City on Thursday, Aug. 17, 2023. just added the highest-ranked commit to its 2025 recruiting class which has already been ranked as high as No. 5 in the country., a 6-foot-2, 200-pounder with elite movement skills, and a national offer list. McClary is a heat seeking missile when tracking the football. Oh, and now he’s a Scarlet Knight.
A Jersey City native, McClary officially visited Rutgers three weekends ago, where he was hosted by linebacker Tyreem Powell, and learned Rutgers provided all he needed in program, and just 30 minutes from his doorstep.and defensive coordinator Joe Harasymiak have built close bonds with McClary, who has taken notice of the positions Powell and Mo Toure, Rutgers’ defensive leaders and best players, are in.
