Big Ten football: Michigan blows out Rutgers, 52-17Gavin Wimsatt posted a black-and-white photo of himself on Instagram a week and a half ago with a single word as its caption: Patience.
All of that might be true. And, if you’re a fan looking for signs that Wimsatt is the future, you saw a few in the first half. Wimsatt had a 37-yard pass to Sean Ryan, connected with Aron Cruickshank with a pretty pass on fourth down and never let the Michigan pass rush rattle him. The third interception was just a poor decision. Wimsatt was trying to hit receiver Shameen Jones downfield when cornerback Will Johnson — one of four Michigan defensive players in the area — stepped in front of the throw for the easy pick.
Look, I get the thinking. Rutgers is going to need to take chances to have a shot against the No. 4 team in the nation. But Schiano already tried this move in Columbus, Ohio, earlier this season, and it failed. Surely, the Wolverines understood that this was a possibility even in the first quarter.
